Grand Jury Indicts Susan Hendricks For Liberty Quadruple Homicide

A grand jury in Pickens County has indicted a woman on four counts of murder in the deaths of her relatives.

Pickens County Solicitor, Walt Wilkins said indictments were issued Tuesday against Susan Hendricks.

Hendricks was arrested after two of her sons, her ex-husband, and her stepmother were found shot to death in neighboring homes in Liberty in October of 2011.

Hendricks tried to frame her son by placing the gun, used to kill four family members, near his bed and leaving behind a suicide note.

Prosecutors believe Hendricks wanted to collect $700,000 in life insurance policies.

It is not yet known whether the death penalty will be sought in the case or when a full trial for the charges will take place.

What is an indictment?

A defendant must be indicted before they can go to trial.

An indictment is a formal document written for a prosecuting attorney charging a person with some offense.
