Steven Dale Baker, 31, of Liberty, South Carolina, was killed in a car wreck Monday evening on Highway 88 in Anderson County.
South Carolina Highway Patrol said Baker came upon slowing traffic while heading east on Highway 88 in his Chrysler Sebring.
In their report, troopers said Baker swerved to miss the slowing traffic and into the westbound lane to miss a stopped truck and then corrected to try to get back into his eastbound lane when his car was broadsided by the utility truck.
The driver of the truck that hit Baker was not injured, according to reports.
A 20-year-old woman in Baker's car was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
