Reminder: Many Liberty Properties To Be Auctioned Off Today At Tax Sale

Reader Katie McCranie via FaceBook:

Just a thought about keeping people informed. Some people may NOT be aware that they have NOT paid their property taxes.

Here is the link and property set to be sold....

It may be true that a few who've not paid their property taxes are NOT aware, but the County does send out ample notice, including taping this to the front of your home on the front door, largest window of the home, or the center most visible spot of the property from the road. This "sign" (as pictured from a house next door to me) is required to remain where placed until the taxes have been paid. Phone and mail contact have also been attempted before and after placement of this notice.

Now, as for the County seizing property ~ that's another story entirely. I believe government seizure of property violates 4th amendment (search & seizure) and possibly even 8th amendment (cruel & unusual punishment) rights.

Furthermore, reassessment has RAISED property values significantly (even though most media reporting may tell you differently) and most people don't realize that 9 out of 10 times these values are too high! Most don't want to protest their taxes out of fear or fear of entanglement or are just lazy.

Also, one who has their property auctioned at this event STILL has 360 days to pay their taxes and then they reclaim their deed.

If you're nosy or bored enough - click the link above - I saw 3 familiar names - one of a County Council member who hasn't paid their taxes!
