From The Pickens Sentinel:
Jerry Meece of Six Mile said that he had visited the job sites for the new Pickens High School, the new Liberty High School and the new Career Center, and found that between 70 and 80 percent of the workers there were Hispanic.
Meece said that a friend of his had reported on [a work crew at one of the job sites] , only [one] worker was in the country legally.
Meece said that the contractors were using the illegal workers so they could get away with paying lower wages.
