Liberty Elementary Honored For Raising Money For Leukemia & Lymphoma

As reported by WSPA News Channel 7:

Liberty Elementary School celebrated surpassing a goal they set to raise money for the annual “Pennies for Patients” drive sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Students and staff participated in this fundraiser in honor of Natalie Kristiansen, a third grade student at Liberty Elementary who was diagnosed last year with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in May of 2009.

Once the students surpassed their original goal of $2,000, Principal Lowell Haynes challenged students to raise $4,000.00 for this cause with the promise of allowing Natalie to “buzz his hair.”

Students collected $5,518.27
