"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The following subtitle has been on my technology blog since I started it in 1999:

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

This has been a motto in my life ever since I read it in high school - although I never felt a want or desire to become a police officer or enlist in the military - I have always made it a mission to expose the truth. This website is an extension of that philosophy.

My tech blog experienced a small bit of notoriety early on by exposing a modern day Frank Abignale. Abignale is the basis for the movie Catch Me If You Can.

The last thing I want to do on this website is offend anyone ... although sometimes that's not possible.

Sometimes, the truth is offensive to those that read their biographies.

The reason I don't like the specific nature of Martin Luther King Day is that it is targeted towards an exclusive group. While King did many things to forward civil rights for all people, not just racial minorities, but economic minorities as well, I still don't see the merit in a national paid holiday. King preached hard work and perseverence ... would he really have wanted us to take a day off to honor him?

There are too many holidays already ... and in actuality (I realize this sounds contradictory to my last statement) ... I wouldn't mind if President's Day or Memorial Day were replaced with Martin Luther King Day. Veteran's Day and The Fourth Of July are inclusive of all military veterans as it is now.

What would I like to see done on this day? If I were President, especially if I were Barack Obama, I would make a special speech today. I would come right out and say,

"Today, let's resolve something ... no matter the color of our skin ... let's resolve to stop using words like "nigger". Let's resolve to speak clearly and carefully. Let's resolve to understand what offends others and resolve to be less offended ourselves. Let's make today the day that Dr. King dreamed of .... the day we resolved to be equal in character ... not imbalanced by our own laziness or perceived inabilities. Let's resolve to be Americans, a nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for ALL."

First of all, we should be careful naming days after ANYONE. It's already overused on buildings, roads, etc. Will we, one day, have all 365 days of the year named after someone who did something good? I have high respect for MLK Jr., but I deeply enjoy my day off to spend with my family most of all. By the way, Matthew 22:36-40 is a good reference if anyone is still wondering how we should be treating each other.
