2010 School Year Registration Dates For 4K & 5K Kindergarden at Liberty Elementary

The School District of Pickens County (which includes Liberty Elementary) will begin registration for 4 year old (4K) & 5 year old (5K) kindergarten beginning Monday January 11, 2010.

Children must register at the school in the attendance zone in which they reside and must be registered by their parent or legal guardian. Registration hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Parents are encouraged to register kindergarten students between the scheduled dates of Monday January 11 through Friday January 29, 2010. Parents or legal guardians may also register during normal school hours anytime before the first day of school begins.

A child who is FOUR years old on or before Wednesday September 1, 2010 may register for 4 YR OLD kindergarten.

The State Of South Carolina 4K program is funded for identified children, four years of age, who have significant readiness deficiencies. Students are screened prior to placement. Liberty Elementary has a 4K program on site. 4K programs for the upcoming school year are contingent on funding. (Contact Liberty Elementary for more details)

A child who is FIVE years old on or before Wednesday September 1, 2010 can register for 5 YR OLD kindergarten.

Registering for 5 YR OLD Kindergarten is a state requirement unless a parent can prove that the child is registering at a parochial school (ie a Christian school) or that is being home schooled with an approved curriculum.

To enroll, a student must reside in Pickens County with their parent or legal guardian and are required to provide the following documents:

1. Student’s state-issued birth certificate (NO COPIES)

2. Student’s South Carolina Certificate of Immunization
(Can be provided by Pickens County Health Department)

3. Proof of Pickens County residence.

Acceptable proof of residency:

Current electricity, gas, water or cable/satellite bill in the parent/guardian’s name.

A state issued ID: military or driver's license

The bill must show the service address.

Certain exceptions can be made if you work in Liberty or have a special consideration for a child to be enrolled at Liberty Elementary.
