An article that I've been working on over the last year deals with the train in Liberty. I'm going to discuss its usefulness in the past and its basic nuisance in the present to Liberty, its commerce, and its people.
I'll be publishing this piece in three parts starting soon.
Some details about the train:
The train crosses over three streets in Liberty:
South Norman
Anderson Dr.
Clardy Rd.
Passenger trains are known as:
The 19 / 20 Amtrak line (19 east / 20 west)
Cargo lines are known as:
The Piedmont Line 503 / 504 (503 east / 504 west)
If one stands on the "'Downtown Liberty side" of the track - the closest track is the west track.
If one stands on the "side closer to 123" of the track - the closest track is the east track.
Clemson is a depot for Amtrak. Most passenger trains head west; therefore Liberty rarely sees a passenger train come through.
In general, westbound cargo trains are stopping in Oconee County SC and in various places in Georgia - most of the cargo carried is coal, fuel, lumber, automobiles, UPS coming from Northern depots.
In general, eastbound trains are stopping in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties and carry chemicals, livestock, fabric, and fuel.

It's really nice to know that Clemson is a depot for Amtrak. Weldon and I would like to use Amtrak for a trip sometime in the next few years.
Clemson students use the train a lot for the holidays and the "May exit".
